We believe that ‘to live’ is ‘to minister.’ Every facet of our lives is an opportunity to serve God’s will and be a light to those around us. We want to use this website as a way to share our ministry and our lives with you – not only concerning our Angolan mission work, but also our choice to expand our family through adoption and the other forms of kingdom service that have captured our hearts. Our prayer is that you may be encouraged by observing our journey, and that you might even be challenged to find new ways to use your own life in the service of God’s kingdom.
“I plead with you, brothers and sisters, because of God’s mercy, give your bodies to Him as a living and holy sacrifice – the kind he will find acceptable. This is your spiritual worship. Do not conform to the values of this world, but be transformed into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you may discern what is the will of God – what is good and acceptable and perfect.” Romans 12:1-2
In many ways, we find that our lives are characterized by a collision of worldviews. We were raised in the suburbs in the Western U.S. before moving to the South to attend college. We call this transition “our first experience with culture shock.” We met at college and spent our first seven years together working with youth in urban Little Rock, Arkansas where we found yet another new subculture of American society.
We are now missionaries bound for Angola, Africa where we will live and serve in a world much different from any we have known. Most significant of all, we are Christians living in a secular world where our values, beliefs, and behaviors seem out of place. Out of the confluence of these perspectives, we believe God is shaping us into better servants in His kingdom.
